Vipassana is an ancient technique of Buddhist meditation. The technique of meditation gained prominence owing to the influence of Satya Narayan Goenka. Headquarters of the Vipassana Center is premised in ‘Igatpuri’. The Global Vipassana Pagoda is the largest in the world, equipped with a seating capacity of 8000 people.The center is a tribute to the Vipassana teacher Sayagyi U Ba. The design of the Pagoda is inspired by Burmese Architecture. The complex houses three domes. Central Dome is 96 meters high, sprawling over an area of 6000 sq.meters. The construction of the complex began in 2000, and the central dome was completed in 2007.  Relics of Lord Buddha are enshrined in the central dome. The complex also has two small Pagodas, a museum, a reattach center, and a walking path
