Sassoon Clock Tower located at the entrance of Byculla Museum now know as
Bhau Daji Lad Museum. The clock tower was a gift from wealthy Jewish philanthropist Sir David Sassoon. The construction of the clock tower began in 1864 and was built at a cost of Rs. 30,000, it was designed in the Italianate style. Measuring 12 square feet at the base and rising to about 75 feet in height.
Byculla Museum is the oldest museum in Bombay. Situated in the vicinity of Byculla. The foundation of the Musuem was laid in 1862. The museum was opened on 2 May 1872 as The Victoria and Albert Museum, now known as
Bhau Daji Lad Museum.
